Today, I learned that...
I am an insatiable reader and a lifelong learner. I love how the web serves up information so conveniently and so prettily on stuff you cannot even begin to imagine. I love to write too. And so I give back by giving you this, the stuff I learned today, the stuff I found interesting, curious, funny, outrageous, provocative, surprising... Oh you get the idea. I hope you have as much fun reading the stuff I write about as I did learning about them. Enjoy.

Gaming Chairs and Gaming Enablers
I learned all about gaming chairs today.
I learned that gamers do not only spend an awful lot of money on gaming PC's, gaming software and the usual gaming gear, but also on gaming chairs.
I suppose when you spend a lot of time sitting in front of the computer gaming, then it makes sense to buy a comfortable gaming chair. And while you are at it, you might as well buy a gaming chair that will enhance your gaming experience with additional motion and audio input.
Yes, these chairs literally rock to the rhythm of your game and come with built-in speakers and ports for your surround stereo headphones as well as for other gaming gear plug ins. Some of the higher-end models can also be linked to each other for LAN gaming, but unless you own a computer shop, I can't see people buying several of these for a private LAN games party, especially for the price of each of this chair.
Forgive me for being unenthusiastic about these fancy gaming chairs, but I am not a gamer myself and cannot see why anybody would want to spend so much on enabling their addictions. Also, since these chairs are also marketed to parents to might want to enhance their kids' gaming experience, we're talking about early addiction enabling here. And that's something I'm very uncomfortable with.

Kosher Makeup
Today, I learned all about kosher makeup. I learned that Jewish ladies can wear makeup even on Shabbat but there are strict rules for using makeup for both Shabbat and non-Shabbat use.
I learned that all Shabbat kosher makeup must be in powder form from concealers, foundations, blushes, eyeshadow, eyeliner, even lipstick. I also learned that you cannot combine two colors so you have to use separate brushes for each different color.
There are also separate rules and guidelines for everyday non-Shabbat kosher makeup. It's all a bit too complicated BUT the really important thing is that Jewish ladies can wear makeup and continue to look good while following their deepest religious and cultural beliefs.
Go girl! Hurrah for kosher makeup!

Love Your Pets
Today I learned that you can get pet insurance for your pets.
Wow! Where I'm from, most people won't even get health care for themselves, much less for pets. So pet insurance is new for me.
But I certainly think pet insurance is a great thing. After all, many people do consider pets as part of their families. And pet health care can be expensive. A visit to the vet can set you back a lot if you do not have pet insurance, especially if an actual procedure had to be done like tests and vaccinations.
So I think that pet insurance is a good thing. Especially for older pets who do tend to get sick a lot.
A couple of years ago, my husband got me a baby rabbit with a wry neck. I am not really a pet person and this rabbit was clumsy and helpless and not very cute. Still, I fell in love with her and I cried and cried when she died just over a year after we got her, on Christmas.
I think maybe she would have held on a lot longer if we have been able to afford more visits to the vet. I did not know about pet insurance then so I just tell myself that I'm sure they have excellent pet health care in rabbit heaven.
